Two-Factor Authentication Options
⏱︎ 2 minutes
Learn more about Two Factor Authenticaion (2FA) and the benefits of enabling this in your BookTix account. Review your options and how you can require this for admins on your accounts.
Access Level: Only Organization Administrators can require Two Factor Authentication account-wide
If not required on the account, other admin access levels can individually opt to use 2FA or not.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication (or 2FA) goes beyond a single layer of security, such as a password alone, and requires two steps to verify your identity. These two points of verification are usually 1) a password and 2) a one-time code generated by an authenticator app.
Some commonly used authenticator apps:
Google Authenticator
Microsoft Authenticator
Duo Mobile
Why is 2FA Important to Use?
Adding two-factor authentication (2FA) to your BookTix account provides an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification, in this case a code sent to your phone's authenticator app, alongside your password. This makes it much harder for unauthorized users to access your account, even if they know your password. With 2FA, you’re protecting your organization data, preventing potential breaches, and keeping your account safe from phishing or password theft.
Account Options for Requiring 2FA
2FA Required for All Admin Login Accounts
This option will require every admin on your account to use 2FA to login. Once enabled, they will be prompted to set this up before they can continue to login to their account. You have the option to exclude Scan Only accounts from this selection.
2FA Required for Org Admin Accounts Only
This option will require only Org Admins to use 2FA to login; it is optional for all other admin accounts.
2FA Not Required
This option does not require anyone to use 2FA to login; it is optional for all admin accounts to utilize.
How to Require 2FA
Navigate to your Organization Dashboard by clicking the gear top right:

On the left side menu under Organization Settings, click Profile & Settings.

Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication Settings and select the requirement option you want to use.

Once you've selected, click UPDATE

You will be prompted immediately to enable 2FA for your account. Click Here to learn the steps to enable 2FA.

To turn off 2FA requirement, simply switch back to the 2FA Not Required option.
How to Disable 2FA
If you have required 2FA on your BookTix account, an Organization Administrator will need to disable it.
- From your Organization Dashboard, navigate to your left menu under Organization Settings → Profile & Settings

- Scroll down and set your 2FA settings to 2FA NOT REQUIRED and click UPDATE at the bottom of the page.

Other Considerations
If you are requiring 2FA in any capacity on your BookTix account, you should notify your admins of this change. We recommend providing them with a link to our article detailing the steps for enabling 2FA: Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
Note: If you have multiple org accounts and use the same email for all of them, if 2FA is enabled for ANY one of your accounts, you will be required to use 2FA for logging into all of your BookTix accounts.
