Setting Up the Stripe M2 Card Reader

The Stripe M2 Card Reader is the only one compatible with the the BookTix Card Reader app.
You must first purchase a Stripe M2 Card reader using this form: Card Reader Purchase Form

Setting Up the Stripe M2 Card Reader




      2. Download the BookTix Card Reader App from the App Store or Google Store. 
      3. Fully Charge Device 
Notes
You must charge your device for at least two hours prior to using. Failure to do so will prevent your device from connecting.

      4. Log in to the app using your email and password for your BookTix Account.
            a. Select the appropriate country
            b. Select your Organization
            c. Select your department
        
   
      5. Power on Stripe M2 Reader using the small power button on the side.

The reader will play a sound when powering on, and the green lights on the front display the reader's battery life. 
      6. The app will find the M2 Reader automatically. The prompt will ask you to you allow Bluetooth and to enable location tracking for the app - you must allow both for the reader to work. 
      7. Click CONNECT

Note: If you get a yellow error across the top of the screen, you may not have fully charged your card reader.

 At this point, some readers will require a firmware update. You will see a progress bar indicating this once you pair your device.

Selling Tickets with the Stripe M2 Card Reader

      1.  Use the POS tool at the way to check out, selecting CREDIT CARD as your payment type before entering the checkout window. 
      2. At checkout, click SEND TO CARD READER APP. 
      3. The cart will appear in the app. Select the correct cart, and you'll be prompted to Tap, Insert, or Swipe the credit card.
      4.  Wait for the green light to appear on the device; this means the Reader is ready. 
      5. Take the payment.

Cards with chips must be tapped or inserted. Non-chip cards must be swiped. 
      6. When the card has been read successfully, the device will beep, all 4 lights will light up, and the app will give a notification that the card has been read. 
      7. Return to the computer and click REFRESH in your cart. The card information will now appear.
      8. Click PROCESS CARD READER TRANSACTION and complete the order.
      
And you're done! You can print or send your ticket as you normally would to complete your order!

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can two box office staff use one reader at the same time?
    Yes - if they are near each other, each staff member will use their won login to access the BookTix Card Reader App and simply select the M2 reader when they are ready to use the reader.
  2. What if my reader isn't connecting?
    Log out of the BookTix Card Reader app, power off the reader, and try again.
  3. Can I swiped instead of tap or insert?
    All cards with a chip should be tapped or inserted; all other cards may be swiped.
